had tried surgery. Surgery's mean efficacy rating on the ten-point scale was 5.55 and
its standard deviation was 3.25. 100 respondents had tried prescription drugs.
Prescription drugs' mean efficacy rating on the ten-point scale was 4.99 and their
standard deviation was 2.20. 41 respondents had tried massage. Massage's mean
efficacy rating on the ten-point scale was 4.56 and its standard deviation was 2.23. 48
respondents had tried stress management. Stress management's mean efficacy rating
