Direct Service Staff Education and Work Experience, by work setting: 81.2% of respondents worked in group home settings. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 29.23 months and had 13.57 years of education. 38.1% had received some disability-related instruction. 44.9% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 7.03 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 4.33 years providing services in a residential setting. 12.7% of respondents worked in semi-independent living settings. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 19.24 months and had 14.42 years of education. 43.3% had received some disability-related instruction. 41.9% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 6.24 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 3.91 years providing services in a residential setting. 5.3% of respondents worked in work center settings. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 37.08 months and had 12.89 years of education. 23.1% had received some disability-related instruction. 30.8% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 6.24 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 4.16 years providing services in a residential setting. One percent of respondents worked in “other” settings. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 28.5 months and had 12 years of education. None had received disability-related instruction. 50% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 9.5 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 8.5 years providing services in a residential setting. Direct Service Staff Education and Work Experience, by job title: 33.1% of respondents were classified as Habilitation Aide 1.  This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 15.57 months and had 13.79 years of education. 35.4% had received some disability-related instruction.  50.6% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 6.82 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 2.75 years providing services in a residential setting. 16.1% of respondents were classified as Habilitation Aide 2. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 24.83 months and had 12.95 years of education. 36.8% had received some disability-related instruction. 35.9% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 5.64 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 3.61 years providing services in a residential setting. 21.9% of respondents were classified as Habilitation Technician 1. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 23.23 months and had 13.74 years of education. 35.8% had received some disability-related instruction. 36.5% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 4.89 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 3.5 years providing services in a residential setting. 11.6% of respondents were classified as Habilitation Technician 2. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 53.16 months and had 13.13 years of education.  42.9% had received some disability-related instruction. 46.4% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 9.94 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 6.13 years providing services in a residential setting. 16.1% of respondents were classified as Habilitation Specialists. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 45.41 months and had 14.34 years of education. 42.1% had received some disability-related instruction. 44.7% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 9.2 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 7.42 years providing services in a residential setting. 1.2% of respondents were classified as “other”. This group had worked in their current jobs for an average of 68.67 months and had 13.71 years of education. 66.7% had received some disability-related instruction. 33.3% had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs. These individuals had an average of 13.5 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 12 years providing services in a residential setting. For all settings and all job titles, the average person had worked in his or her current jobs for 28.37 months and had 13.63 years of education. 37.6% of all direct service staff had received some disability-related instruction. 43.8% of respondents had prior direct services experience before taking their current jobs.  These individuals had an average of 7.07 years of experience in providing direct services, with an average of 4.3 years providing services in a residential setting.
