In Montana, coordinated communications between public health systems and disability service systems have 1) increased cultural competence of public health professionals to better serve Montanans with disabilities; and 2) increased awareness within the disability community of important public health concerns, programs, and services. MTDH has organized information on public health and disability awareness months to strengthen these efforts. Click on the months above to view monthly events.

Additionally, the National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities (NPA) in the  National Stakeholder Strategy for Achieving Health Equity provides strategies to increase awareness of the significance of health disparities, their impact on the nation, and the actions necessary to improve health outcomes for underserved populations including populations with disabilities.
