Women with disabilities have lower screening rates for breast and cervical cancer [and] emerging research suggests that rural geographic settings may present greater disparities in screening utilization. Walkability, bike-ability in Butte under review

 

A concerted effort is underway in Butte-Silver Bow to improve the city’s pedestrian and bicycling environment. This is a good thing, given that recent data have indicated that Butte is not a healthy community — walking and biking are low-cost and easy ways to greatly improve health.

MSU Billings offers 3-credit Seminar for BCaBA (Online, Summer)

This report describes healthy behaviors, quality and access to health care, and other wellness factors for Montanan families with and without a child or youth with a special health care need (CYHSCN). Data are from the National Survey on Children’s Health (NSCH) 2011/2012 dataset and include comparisons of health-related outcomes of Montanan families with and without a CYSHCN.

Facilitated version of the 14 Weeks to a Healthier You!

Many programs have been established that promote healthy weight and nutrition for people with disabilities; however, few have been written to address the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The 14-Weeks to a Healthier You! is an internet-based fitness and nutrition program  targeted to people with mobility limitations, chronic health conditions and physical disabilities. MTDH partnered with Centers for Independent Living to pilot the program to Montanans with I/DD in 2015.
