Frequency of People Indicating Each Impairment Group (n =224). 96 people chose “walking problem” as their impairment type. This was 43% of the sample. 89 people chose “back or neck problem” as their impairment type. This was 39.7% of the sample. 86 people chose “arthritis” as their impairment type. This was 38.4% of the sample. 77 people chose “mental disorder” as their impairment type. This was 34.4% of the sample. 57 people chose “lung and\/or breathing problem” as their impairment type. This was 25.4% of the sample. 56 people chose “eye and\/or vision problem” as their impairment type. This was 25% of the sample. 46 people chose “fractures, bone and\/or joint injury” as their impairment type. This was 20.5% of the sample. 37 people chose “hypertension” as their impairment type. This was 16.5% of the sample. 34 people chose “diabetes” as their impairment type. This was 15.2% of the sample. 22 people chose “heart problem” as their impairment type. This was 9.8% of the sample. 15 people chose “stroke problem” as their impairment type. This was 6.7% of the sample. 14 people chose “hearing problem” as their impairment type. This was 6.3% of the sample. 12 people chose “spinal cord injury” as their impairment type. This was 5.4% of the sample. 9 people chose “cancer” as their impairment type. This was 4% of the sample. 8 people chose “amputee” as their impairment type. This was 3.6% of the sample. 7 people chose “cerebral palsy” as their impairment type. This was 3.1% of the sample. 6 people chose “multiple sclerosis” as their impairment type. This was 2.7% of the sample. 4 people chose “muscular dystrophy” as their impairment type. This was 1.8% of the sample. 2 people chose “post polio” as their impairment type. This was 0.9% of the sample. 145 people chose “other” as their impairment type. The “other” category included a variety of medical conditions such as epilepsy and fibromyalgia. This was 64.7% of the sample. No participants chose “traumatic brain injury” as their impairment type. Individuals with cognitive impairment were not part of this study cohort. No participants chose “mental retardation” as their impairment type. Individuals with cognitive impairment were not part of this study cohort.<\/p>\n
