This workshop is a great opportunity to learn about inclusivity, exercise recommendations, adaptations, and much more.<\/p>\n<p><b>What is Inclusive Fitness? <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Fitness professionals must understand how to ensure people who may have a physical, sensory or cognitive disability feel welcome and receive appropriate and individualized guidance in order to meet their physical activity and fitness goals, whether in a health club, outdoor and\/ or home-based setting.<\/p>\n<p><b>What will participants learn?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In addition to general knowledge of exercise physiology, exercise testing and programming, you will also gain knowledge of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Inclusive facility design<\/li>\n<li>Awareness of social inclusion for people with disabilities<\/li>\n<li>The American\u2019s with Disabilities Act (ADA)<\/li>\n<li>Safe and effective methods and recommendations of exercise<\/li>\n<li>Appropriate adaptations to exercise<\/li>\n<li>Precautions and contraindications to exercise related to disability<\/li>\n<li>Motivational techniques and appropriate instruction for individuals with disabilities to<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>begin and continue healthy lifestyles<\/p>\n<p><b>Is support to attend available?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Montana Disability and Health Program can support up to ten people to travel to the workshop in Missoula\u2014if you need support to attend this workshop, please contact <span id=\"cloak2471b288bda334a68c41ee249f1a56a3\"><a href=\"mailto:hwelch@mt.gov\">Heather Welch<\/a><\/span>. Once you have registered for the conference, you will receive an email about the room block and the finalized agenda.<\/p>\n<p><b>Are there other opportunities available?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Some workshop participants may qualify to take the ACSM exam to become a \u201cCertified Inclusive Fitness Trainer\u201d (CIFT).
