Urban and Rural Provider Characteristics. There was a total of 14 providers. 5 were urban and 9 were rural. For all providers, the average number of direct service staff was 67, the median number was 60 and the range was 5 to 95. For urban providers, the average number of direct service staff was 95, the median number was 92, and the range was 5 to 195. For rural providers, the average number of direct service staff was 50, the median number was 35 and the range was 14 to 97. For all providers, the average annual budget was $1.5 million, the median budget was $1.2 million and the range was $400,000 to $5.3 million. For urban providers, the average annual budget was $3.3 million, the median budget was $3.1 million and the range was $1.7 million to $5.3 million. For rural providers, the average annual budget was $900,000, the median budget was $800,000 and the range was $400,000 to $2.1 million. For all providers, the average percent of consumers who had a severe disability was 23.2%, the median was 40% and the range was 2% to 100%. For urban providers, the average percent of consumers who had a severe disability was 19%, the median was 15%, and the range was 2% to 36%. For rural providers, the average percent of consumers who had a severe disability was 62%, the median was 75% and the range was 35% to 100%. For all providers, the average number of consumers in group living was 23, the median was 16 and the range was 5 to 87. For urban providers, the average number of consumers in group living was 44, the median was 41, and the range was 5 to 87. For rural providers, the average number of consumers in group living was 15, the median was 8 and the range was 5 to 40. For all providers, the average number of consumers in supported living was 19, the median was 18 and the range was 5 to 93. For urban providers, the average number of consumers in supported living was 56, the median was 45, and the range was 19 to 93. For rural providers, the average number of consumers in supported living was 6, the median was 4 and the range was 5 to 15.
